The Twenty Dirtiest Cities in the United States

Dirtiest Cities in United States

This list is based on factors such as air pollution levels, greenhouse gas emissions, litter issues, water pollution, and overall lack of cleanliness and environmental quality ratings. However, it’s worth noting that dirtiness and pollution can be subjective and these rankings may vary depending on the specific criteria and sources used. Additionally, many cities are actively working to improve their environmental conditions through sustainability initiatives and clean-up efforts. It’s also worth noting that all of these cities are very large. The more populated the city the harder it is to keep clean.

1. New York, NY – High population density in New York, NY has not only resulted in more litter on the streets but also contributed to increased air pollution from the heavy traffic congestion.

One thing that stands out to me as I read this list is it’s surprising how many of these cities are in Texas. I have never personally been to Texas but I have always heard good things about it. It also surprises me that Birmingham, AL isn’t on this list. Birmingham is the dirtiest city I have ever been to. Which city do you think should be on this list?
